A Restaurant Hiding at the Back
Pánuco 36 doesn't announce itself. You step through a black iron gate under a canopy of trees, past a wall of glass and reclaimed wood, and the restaurant only reveals itself once you're all the way at the back of the property. Inside, terracotta walls and potted plants soften the space, tables are set close enough to feel intimate without feeling crowded, and the whole room glows with the kind of warm light that makes you want to stay for a second round.

Then There's the Gallery Up Front
Before the restaurant even starts, Pánuco 36 runs its own small gallery. Green shelves hold framed portraits, art books, and objects that look like they were chosen one at a time rather than bought in bulk, and a vintage sports photograph hangs like it’s the guest of honor.
The shelving alone is worth slowing down for. Books on art and design sit stacked next to ceramic pieces and small wooden figures, arranged more like a collector’s shelf than a retail display. Nothing here feels staged for a photo, which somehow makes it more photogenic.
A green door frames the hallway that connects the gallery to the dining room, so the walk from looking to eating happens as one deliberate move. It’s a small detail, but it sets the tone for the whole visit.

Pánuco 36 is an easy add to any night out if you’re staying at Red Sofa, close enough for a short walk and different enough from a typical dinner spot to make the evening feel like an occasion. Go early to catch the gallery before the tables fill in, or go late and let the two blur together.
