SOUMAYA MUSEUM
Art, Architecture, and
a Little Bit of Sparkle
Let’s be real: the first thing you’ll notice about Museo Soumaya is the building itself. With its futuristic curves and shimmering silver tiles, it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. Love it or not, you can’t deny it grabs your attention. Walking up to it, I always feel like I’m about to step into another world and in a way, I am.
Inside, the museum is just as impressive. The collection is huge and eclectic, ranging from European masters like Van Gogh and Monet to Mexican greats like Diego Rivera. There’s even an entire section dedicated to Rodin sculptures yes, including The Thinker. The variety means there’s something for everyone, whether you’re a hardcore art lover or just casually curious. You’ll wander from one room to another and feel like you’ve traveled across centuries and continents.
What makes Museo Soumaya even better? It’s free.
Yep, you can spend an entire afternoon surrounded by incredible art without paying a peso. That makes it one of the most accessible cultural experiences in the city, and honestly, I love that. Art should be for everyone, and Soumaya really lives up to that idea.
My tip: don’t rush! Let yourself wander.
Get lost in the building’s winding spaces, and take in the architecture as much as the art.
Even looking up at the ceilings feels like part of the show. By the time you leave, you’ll feel like you’ve had a little escape one filled with creativity, sparkle, and maybe even a new favorite artist.
